How I Started My New York City Photo Booth Biz
🤔 How long has my NYC photo booth been in business? Well, friends, I’ll take you back to 2017.
I was turning 25 that June, and I threw myself a gala. And I mean, a GALA. I had a Nick Jonas Calvin Klein cake (just picture it), I had awesome golden decorations and sparklers, a signature drink, and I knew one thing was for SURE- ya boy was going to have a Photo Booth!
I looked and looked at different options, and it seemed like the options were all about the money and time limits, or all about the camera equipment-- but nobody was talking about the fun experience my guests would have in the Photo Booth.
So I set out & scoured the internet & camera shops to find what I felt like was the best booth setup. I borrowed backdrops and tripods from the marketing team at work, and I whipped together what was a fun freaking Photo Booth!
I set it up at the party, and I basically barely left the booth. I remember thinking, “Wow, this made the party 1000% better!”
In the booth, there were so many people who kept returning, and as the night went on, the photos got more creative, sloppier, blurrier, and funnier- and I knew that my Photo Booth creation was one for the books.
A few months later, as an entrepreneur, I was looking for my next challenge- a good friend of mine, Sam, recommended I make a business out of taking that experience to all kinds of parties around NYC- and I did!
I started going to corporate events, birthday parties, bar mitzvahs, weddings, and launch events and started helping people take photos in a way that was fun, and easy, and got people a keepsake memory they could cherish forever.
Here I am, seven years later, running the Photo Booth business of my dreams.
The photos in this post are extremely special to me, not only because the party was so special, and all my friends from that era are forever stamped in my memories of the party, but because these photos are what showed me that I was able to create a special memory for everyone— and to this day, that’s what drives me to run this Photo Booth biz! The love, connection & belly laughter people experience in my booth is what keeps me going.
